Re: Skyting demolition
Davis Straub - 2014/08/29 14:50:20 UTC It obviously didn't prevent one in this case. (He had a "1.5G" weaklink.) I think Davis is referring to the Clown in "The student on tow" video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jn4cTQH743E http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jn4cTQH743E Yes, in t...

Re: Skyting demolition
Exactly, the weak link didn't prevent his lockout either.Nope. Roll instability. This guy WAS a sack of potatoes. We saw what happened.
-if you get too far off heading, and a lockout begins to develop, a proper weak link will break and release you from tow.
Re: landing
My second CG-1000, I got it used many years ago. My first I ordered new when they came out. It was a little tight - my fault - and a bit of a pain to put on. I like them though and have never had a zipper jam yet. I did have an issue with the velcro that secures the side zipper on the latest one. It...
Re: landing
I eventually got fed up with all the bullshit velcro problems and stitched the zipper directly to the harness. I've landed zipped up a bunch of times after (waiting too long and) having zipper problems AND being unable to blow the velcro. I too have used a few stitches to keep a tight harness from ...

Workers at the Ivanpah Solar Electric Generating System call the dying birds "streamers," because of the trail of smoke they leave behind after igniting.
Federal investigators say they counted an average of one bird catching fire every two minutes during their survey.

Re: The Bob Show
And I sure as hell wouldn't want anybody flying with anything I designed if he didn't understand what it was for, how it worked, how and when to use it at least just as well as I did. Yep and here we are. In the case of the spreader bar, some manufacturers may not understand it completely. When it'...

Re: The Bob Show
-- You don't wanna do the extra buck and a half's worth of engineering to make the spreader slideable (like it needs to be for breakdown). If you're addressing manufacturers, being slideable is part of the problem. Rather than relying on the pilot understanding how the control system works, Bob Tram...

A complicated launch technique and over all poor performance for a hand launch glider.
