OK Bob. Done. 2017/05/05 12:11:25 UTC.

What the site's really all about... It was outlined very clearly and simply in the first posts of its founder and first member - respectively, one apiece.

Frequently Asked Questions
Bob Kuczewski - 2010/08/13

Is there a Board of Directors for the US Hawks?
Not yet. The HGAA's early problems arose because different people wanted to take the organization in different directions. That created power stuggles which cost the HGAA some of its early leadership. For now, I'm going to take the US Hawks in the direction that I believe is right. If people want to go along, then they're welcome. If not, there are at least two other alternatives. :)
Not yet. Any day now though.

Sorry Steve. Looks like you lost out on the time zone thing.

There will shortly, hopefully, appear in the appropriate thread the extended response I was preparing for Bob before he did exactly what I expected him to.

I've been fascinated with gyroscopes since forever and how they function was mostly intuitive (Newton's first law). Problem was that I could not get my idiot head around why the precession is 90 degrees later in the direction of rotation from where a force is applied.

I found this video a few days ago and suddenly got it. The explanation that clicked for me starts at 05:38.

PS - On one hand it's super nice to finally get it, but on the other I feel kinda stupid for not getting such a simple concept long ago.

Crash on highway one today. People waiting for the road to clear. Fireman walks by as we are waiting and everyone is asking him how long it will be before the road is opened. No one, other than me, bothers to ask about the status of the folks involved in the crash. What a totally depressing display of human behavior.

Three fairly minor injures and one definitely not.

I'll bet he was a transsexual Muslim from Chad who just waltzed across the Mexican border, bristling with AK-47s, where there wasn't any wall. And if there'd been just ONE good guy armed with an AR-15 and a few hundred rounds in the crowd...

Fuckin' Democrats.

I'm currently jonesing after this little jewel of innovation. Behold, the Decepticon. It appears to be the culmination of years of thought and refinement by Степан Зыков. I'm no expert, but I haven't seen anything that matches its ability to maintain a constant grind angle while automatically compensating for stone thickness changes.
