"evidence of that silliness"
Ryan Voight - 2016/04/18 15:56:56 UTC

It's very hard to let go of an old paradigm, especially when it's been widely accepted as fact for a long time!
par·a·digm: a TYPICAL example or pattern of something.
Thanks, Ryan!

Believing that you can apply roll corrections on launch by pulling laterally on the down tubes will just stop the glider from flying properly.
So now we have gliders that stop flying properly based upon beliefs. Good to know.

Report about fatal accident at Quest Air Hang Gliding
Paul Hurless - 2013/02/09 08:49:22 UTC

If you had been properly trained on how to tow, you would know that it shouldn't be a big deal when a weak link breaks, even just after coming off the cart, if you are doing things right. Maybe you should get some better training instead of just parroting Tad. When you are under tow you should be ready for any unusual event and be ready to deal with it. It's called being a pilot instead of just being a passenger along for the ride.
Using someone else's tragedy to further your agenda is pathetic.

The "how" of loosing Jeff
Christopher LeFay - 2016/05/22 18:21:11 UTC

My wife is on the light side, and she was instructed to stay with the weaker links we commonly use at our home site.
Total fucking morons. That includes you too, Christopher.

Tragedy at 2016 Quest Air Open
Davis Straub - 2016/05/26 23:01:52 UTC

I put Fausto in line right in front of me after he had a weak link break., for example.
Rewarding incompetence. Good job, Dickhead!

Actually in aerotow competition we have standardized on a thin spectra protow bridle with a barrel release and a weaklink at the other end.

Having been at this for thirty years I've been in a position to influence that standardization.
Now we have the smoking gun. Thanks BIGTIME for that one, Davis!

Failure to hook in.
Bille Floyd - 2011/10/27 16:59:26 UTC

The Wind came back up and i picked up the glider & made a mental pre-launch check. Remembering that i had already hooked in previously --
i deleted the, "lift the glider" part to check for tension on the harness.
and signaled for the driver to GO

Is Hang Gliding the perfect day trip? Probably. - OceanCity.com

She had done well and Donnie Guynn, Bill's partner, presented her with the tow line that had been used in their flight. It had the look of baker's string but was tested well above 1,500 pounds.
