Please note that the weaklink *saved* her ass. She still piled into the earth despite the weaklink helping her...

Those "other factors" just happen to be *the* factors.
You can't look *for* facts to backup your opinion.
That's just bs arguing.

You have to look at facts and find what they tell you.
It doesn't work the other way around.

Donnell Hewett - 1981/10

Now I've heard the argument that "Weak links always break at the worst possible time, when the glider is climbing hard in a near stall situation," and that "More people have been injured because of a weak link than saved by one." Well, I for one have been saved by a weak link and would not even consider towing without one.

Starting Again
junglepilot - 2011/11/11 00:30:32 UTC
Abbotsford, British Columbia

I was hang gliding on Vancouver Island '92-'93. Had about twelve flights with three soaring flights. Gave it up and pursued other things. Three years ago, got back into the sport with Paragliding and am almost at a P3 level now with that. I will be shortly moving to Abbotsford BC and will be able to take up Hang gliding again. ]I would love some advice from you all on how you think I should get started again. Buy gear? Freedom? Falcon? Other? What is the closest training hill to my location? Kamloops BC? Are there any recommended schools in my area? I would like to work towards Canadian ratings. I have seen many pilots flying Woodside. Anybody flying Bridal? Are there quite a few HG pilots in the lower mainland area? Thanks, I look forward to any advice you have for me.

Burn your paraglider so we know you're serious.
Thanks for the lead, Steve.

I remember a time we watched a pilot fly into the trees below launch at Lookout. It was tailing fairly strong and the guy just ran off anyway!! Even though the area of trees where he went in is fairly tight, bordered on one side by the road and on the other side by the cliff, and even though there were two people that watched him go in, it still took five of us about a half hour to find him.
