In some of Santos-Dumont's versions of his Demoiselle
one may notice seat is slung tensionally
behind the A-frame. He used some aerodynamic controls over the most simple Breslau A-frame of 1908 (that is our 2012 contemporary situation frequently). He rolled in for landings under power or glide unpowered. Here is a link to some Demoiselle image:

I cannot tell for sure if the shown pilot is in non-powered gliding mode or under powered mode.
Has there been a recent-decade hang glider celebration of Santos-Dumont where his A-frame and seat behind A-frame slung between aft member, perhaps secondarily suspended?
Notice the lower leading Safe-Splat mitigation skid.

Link to the past:
Notice how this A-frame base bar is "empty" as it is mechanically supplied by the compressive member between the two kingposts; such left the running space fully open between the two wheeled A-frame side members. Later, in at least 1908 in Breslau hang glider, the basebar was solid, but tensional as we are so familiar with in 2012.

And the full page with more text that holds that image has some interesting text comparing Pilcher's machine with an Otto Lilienthal machine:
