I'll probably get permanently banned for this video.
It violates everything Kite Strings stands for.
(and again, sorry for my english, both here and in the video captions. I can't do better, but you probably get the points  )

1. Walking around on the edge of a 3300 ft cliff in my harness, looking like an arse. Not even considering the "aussie method". Stupid.
2. Launching in a tail wind. Not doing a strong, powefull run. Idiotic.
3. Doing a final hook-in check a few seconds prior to launch. I must be dumb. It was just giving me a false sense of security.
4. Violating the 5 second rule before going to the flight control bar. Dangerous.
5. Not going upright 2 km prior to landing. What was I thinking about?
6. Didn't do a no-stepper landing. I have read on the internet that a landing that isn't a no stepper is a failed landing. This one was clearly a failure.
7. Even walking around in my harness after landing. I'm so ashamed.
What else?

You guys can probably find more faults ;)

But seriously, the interesting sequence is as 00:55, showing what would happen if I actually forgot to hook in.
Not a very pleasent thought...

Edit: The Vimeo version. I like this one better:

Another stunningly beautiful video. And as usual I've got sweaty palms from watching.

8. You obviously don't care about the carabiner being crushed, got that suspension spreader bar far too high to offer any protection.

PS Nice new wing.

Good point, didn't catch that one ;)

PS You probably spelled the word carabiner wrong.

I am thinking that is the most stunningly beautiful hang gliding video that I have ever seen!

I'll be sending that one to all of my friends to enjoy. Well done, and thanks big time for producing that gem.

- For a brain dead easy enormous flat Happy Acres putting green LZ passed up a perfectly good narrow dry riverbed with large rocks strewn all over the place which would've been ideal for outlanding practice.

- Undoubtedly did a moderate to hard turn onto final well below two hundred feet.

- Stopped the glider with about two hundred meters of useable runway left in front of you.

- Used a camera on the Harbor Seals when an assault rifle would've done the job so much more effectively.

My previous scan of Kite Strings was 2019/07/16 12:31:51 UTC. Then checked back in 2019/07/17 09:39:22 UTC to find five new posts by three individual authors - none of whom were me. That's gotta be a huge first for the forum.

I've previously mentioned that I spent a little time on Sognefjord in the late summer of '84. Did a lot of thinking about awesome sled rides I could've had if I'd been equipped. Had a seal (I'd now guess a Harbor) surface at the edge just below us during a walk on the road.
...showing what would happen if I actually forgot to hook in.
It's not forgetting to hook in that's the problem.
Not a very pleasent thought...
It's failing to have that not very pleasant thought...

AL's Second flight at Packsaddle how it went

At that moment, I would banish all concern about launching unhooked. I had taken care of it. It was done. It was out of my mind.
Unfortunately it tends not to be the motherfuckers who perpetrate this crap who end up paying the really big prices.
IT'S A GREAT PRIVILEGE TO EXPERIENCE NATURE LIKE THIS
Yeah. Amazing that nature can carve out a thousand meter vertical drop like that.

Thanks much again, always a great pleasure.

The World's first hang glider flight from the famous Kjerag boulder cliff.
The 6th HG flight ever from Kjerag.
Five of them mine.
Until I make a full version, maybe you like this one:

In case you are interested, here is the first ever flight from Kjerag.
I know the pilot. He's normally a good pilot, but here he failed a bit. (but not on the Kjerag flight. On an earlier flight from Lysebotn)
It's a compilation of at least 3 flights. You can also see my wing on the ground in one of the scenes.
Maybe something to learn from this one:

I take my chance and post another video.
It's the "full" version of the Kjerag boulder flight.
