Re: Cutting the line

Lockout Larry... Oops. Zack C - 2010/11/17 14:50:34 UTC Seems like every week something happens relevant to the discussion we've been having. Here's a report from a friend flying at Lookout this past weekend: I towed out behind (n-s) Pablo ok till I got above the trees, then I got hit by a strong gu...

Re: Weak links

Thanks for the 'center of mass' debunktion. I've always felt the glider is easier to control (more stable) when towing two-point, but I suspect that's just because it dampens pilot input or something. I've never used a Skyting bridle but I've heard they 'tow nicely', but again, I suspect it's just ...

Think I just discovered the reason Axel was such a quick study on the issue of one-size-fits-all 130 pound Greenspot. http://www.hanggliding.org/viewtopic.php?t=5089 The Good-The Bad-The Ugly.... Re: Releases

I didn't bother with the two-point because I've seen enough of it to know it's beyond my capability. The bungee stuff in the basetube is nice but it's fairly negligible with respect to safety. If I were gonna do your glider for myself I probably wouldn't bother with it. Minus that system the job ge...

Re: Cutting the line

I can see why you qualified that statement...eliminating cases involving foot launch starts and inexperienced pilots does seems to leave few remaining documented low-level lockout cases. Yeah. And I've said this before, but wouldn't you have thunk that if someone were gonna write a set of criteria ...

Re: Weak links

The 'center of mass' thing never made sense to me... Then you were way ahead of me 'cause I was buying it until this year when I started dissecting the Skyting newsletters. ...but I figured Donnell knew what he was talking about being a physicist... PRE-FREAKING-CISELY. Because he was a physics pro...

Re: Releases

The promised book... I've looked at your single-point release... Single or two? ...and have a general understanding of how it works, but while it looks like a great design I certainly wouldn't trust myself to make one, so I'm going to have to rely on something I can buy already made. 'Cause you thin...

Re: Cutting the line

Lemme take this one out of order - before "Releases" - 'cause it's relatively easy to deal with. The other one could take a book - this one just a magazine. This is one area where I'm not following you completely. The tow line isn't just providing thrust...in the case of a lockout, it's th...

Re: Weak links

Sorry for the delay getting back with you. No problem. I'd so much rather go with quality than speed. Life got in the way and I wanted to do some research (including reading Dynamic Flight's articles and much of your 4144 Review document and skimming the 'Mousetraps' article and your photos). Worth...

suspension

A continuation of the discussion that was so threatening to HHPA's culture that it found it necessary to silence me on 2010/11/19 by a two to one ratio of the 27 club members who voted to determine who the 140 forum members would be allowed to hear. Henry Wise supported the ban so it's highly unlike...
