Re: Surface towing for teaching

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4lWVrOQN428 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4lWVrOQN428 Tad, Mike, Zack anybody Can you think of any good reason why Edward could not or should not have attached at the harness mains rather than the shoulder loops? Also once the first stage is released is it a disadvan...

Re: Video

Steve,

What do you mean by static line?
Is it what we call fixed line, a line attached to a vehicle with no winch system?
Was there an observer at the vehicle end?

Cheers

Re: Surface towing for teaching

... but having now used a Koch for a few years I have softened up a bit. Paul Edwards - 2012/10/17 15:41:42 UTC While launching I had no way of releasing from the tow line. I don't understand why anyone who surface tows would not use a setup like this when it's so easily doable. If the technology e...

Re: Surface towing for teaching

Must be nice to be able to create something that moves technology forward and get it in the air without having it attacked, suppressed, grounded by the kind of international cartel we have with the aerotowing industry. I'll second that. It's easy to develop new kit when not much preceded it but onc...

Re: Surface towing for teaching

Tad, Mike, Zack, anybody Tell me what you think about Edward's release/splitter arrangement. If there are any discrepancies in his setup I'm not seeing them. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4lWVrOQN428 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4lWVrOQN428 I have a fairly open mind and would really need to try ...

Steve Davy wrote:Thanks. I was imagining something that threaded though a ring at the apex, and that didn't make any sense for a two stage.
Ya, I don't know where that name came from, something like a splitter would be better.

Re: Releases

Re Koch introduction to the world. 1985/06-03 Can you move it back any?) I was invited to the first ever UK aerotow conference, about '84 I think. I have a newsletter somewhere with the exact date. This was a feasibility study and I helped draft the first set of procedures. I saw an example of a wel...

Re: Releases

Answer to problem. Dump the threader and shoot the guy making them. (That would be me in our club). What is the threader? A rope 'V' arrangement with one long leg and one short. It's part of a twin release system. Tow line, weak-link, apex of threader, long line under the bar, short line over the b...

Re: Releases

- I don't hafta hear a lot of whining about the jolt to the fucking weak link. Fairly well sorted by a slight winch back-off and/or a pull in prior to first release. Well that solves the issue but not the whining of course. - There's no possibility of getting the under line too short... Answer to p...

Re: Releases

Why the fuck don't you just do THIS: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=il3YPp3Rfq8 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=il3YPp3Rfq8 It's dumbfoundingly simple and brilliant. And - although I wish I could say I thought of it myself - I didn't. I give you my word that I didn't even consider it. So why not jus...
