Re: birds
Enjoyed the birding stories and all of the pics. I had a hummingbird feeder up near McClure for years. There were mostly green hummingbirds with an occasional brown one. Every year, around early fall, the yellow jackets would become territorial and take over the bird feeder. One or two of them would...

I pondered over that one for a minute. I knew there was a problem, but was in a hurry. I usually google grammar before submitting.

Re: Knots
Yes, the truckers hitch was what I used. When I was just starting and had no 4wd, I had to bum rides up the hill. You had to untie the other gliders, put yours on, then retie them. More than once, I saw the rope loosen and the gliders slide off the truck. Scorn was heaped heavily upon whomever tied ...
Re: Knots
Yep, I used a version of the overhand slip knot to tie gliders to the truck. After cinching down the gliders to the rack, I would take the free end and the bight and make an easy to untie knot. Never lost any gliders, but the drive up was short.

Re: Weak links
Thanks for all you have done here.
Your posts on hg.org were always lucid and easy to understand.
It is a shame that they purposely and willfully ignored the mouth release.

2. So how come one hundred percent of hang glider LZs are so big that we can afford to throw out every foot of the first half as an option in order to be able to nail the old Frisbee in the middle? Re: 2015/03/27 Jean Lake crash
Thanks for the explanation. I always used whatever the tow rig operator had on hand without any fore or hind thought, until one day when the release did not release. After some aerobatics, while wrassling with the brake lever release, I flew the glider in circles and landed it still connected to the...
