Re: landing

Sorry for the lateness. I do not have constant internet access. So this was a real serious, permanent damage one that happened some time ago and - very conspicuously - hasn't been reported by ANYONE involved. That sound fishy to anyone besides T** at K*** S******? Reasons for not reporting serious i...

Steve Davy - 2014/05/22 19:49:40 UTC Is he going to be okay? Yes, he is walking, and talking. He had some sort of cervical fusion and is healing. Tad Eareckson - 2014/05/22 20:16:05 UTC Wow. First K*** S****** post in over five and half months and first hang gliding related K*** S****** post in a w...

Re: landing

Another data point for you:

Recently, a pilot making a wheel landing and proned out, got popped near the ground. He took out a downtube, received a neck injury and got a helicopter ride.

It's not on the org or the retort.

https://farm3.staticflickr.com/2934/14206446958_076ff8bd5a_o.jpg I saw this guy running around the boat launch at McClure. Many years ago, I happened upon one at the bottom of the upper lz. From that point, it is uphill and downwind, so I figured I could run him down. We set out roadrunner and coyo...

Re: landing

And the most effective way to both avoid crashes and avoid injuries if one DOES crash is to keep both hands on the basetube. The human pile driver technique. Got it! I'm online about 1hr/week and liking it. Its best to let go and swing. Let the glider absorb the impact. The glider is stro...

Re: landing

Just as there are babies who are content to crawl, and never to walk, there are pilots who are content to land on wheels and never on their feet.

Life is what you make of it.

Re: instructors and other qualified pilot fiends

Damn Dude, you out danced Michael Jackson at his best. To make it simple and undanceable for you. The conditions I described were stronger than the available control on the glider. No ground speed is what happens when you are flying into a 30 mph breeze. When I went prone, I did not go with both han...

Re: instructors and other qualified pilot fiends

Brian is neither elegant nor eloquent, but his message is spot on. If Spork has a problem with a pilot, take it up with the pilot instead of whining on the internet. He said, she said, he said, is a waste of everybody's time.
